I am Okidata certified and work on tons of them. They will be around for a long time to come. Almost every auto store, repair shop, warehouse, etc still use them for their multicolored multi sheet prints. I agree that they are behind the times fashioned but they are still made. Okidata seems awfully reliable, I also see and work on Epson DFX series and panasonic dot matrix printers. for the price and durability stick with Oki or Panasonic.
You should simply be interested in buying a dot matrix printer if your still printing out onto NCR / multipart continuous stationery i assume close to invoices / estimates etc. Personally id switch to modern methods of printing out documents on laser or inkjet setups. Dot matrix printers will be around for as long as the floppy disk or photographic picture at present.
