i use a lexmark x75. $77 at wal-mart. it's an all-in-one printer, fax, scanner. it's great!

Seeing as you dont want HP or #dell theres only 2 others that I would use and within Cannon and Epsom..I use HP and Epsom I have never have any problems with them.
